2011 Butch Carpenter Scholarship Banquet
Date:
Saturday, March 19, 2011
download event (iCalendar)
Time:
07:00 PM to 10:00 PM
Location:
Ann Arbor Four Points Sheraton
Description:
The annual event honors the legacy of Alden J. “Butch” Carpenter, a student who passed away suddenly in 1978 at the age of 28 while enrolled at Michigan Law School. Butch was committed to using his professional skills in business and law to benefit urban communities. His untimely passing spurred the BLSA membership to honor his memory by establishing the Alden J. “Butch” Carpenter Memorial Scholarship Fund to award scholarships to three outstanding first-year BLSA law students who have demonstrated commitment to community economic development. This year's keynote speaker will be former Michigan Law professor, and former director of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, Ted Shaw.
